life

life is good. I do not deserve anything that I am given, good or bad, but because of grace, i am blessed. marriage is awesome, I couldnt be more happy with my wife heather. she is the missing rib that took me 20 years to find. I thank God for my wife.
our church is going through some changes. a new service has been added to the mix of sunday mornings. one being a contemporary service, the other being the regualr traditional service. i think about this alot. its an awesome thing yet alot of work has to be involved. it takes an active church. the goal is to reach young adults. we have lost many of our young adults in our church and we are trying to change that. christ has blessed us. please pray for our church, westside baptist church, as we go through this process. a few of our band member are involved in this process. pray for us as well. thanks for tuning in. maybe a podcast or two can be thrown in the mix sometime. love you guys. jesus peace

Todd is married to Heather... Heather is married to Todd... They are in St. Lucia right now... We as a band could not go with him. He wouldn't let us (understandable). We asked though... Marriage is a beautiful thing. We are so happy for them and wish them the best!... On the band side of things we have BCM (Baptist College Ministries) coming up on Thursday that we will be leading. If you happen to read this and are any where near Jacksonville you should come out. It is at Westside Baptist Church (our home church). As it stands we have got a few songs in the working, but have not completed them yet. Hopefully we will get to play them on the 24th in Edgewater, FL. Looking forward to seeing our friends down there! Anyways... Well, we are just kind of chillin for the rest of the summer and hopefully when fall and winter arrive we will have some events lined up and maybe a little traveling! Only by the will of God though. In the mean time we will continue to praise Him and love!

the book

I love to carry my Bible. I like it when they are thin with black leather. I got one when I graduated high school from my church. It feels cool to carry. I also like this camo Bible that I have mainly because its translation gives me footnotes on words and meanings. However, this one doesnt feel as cool, its not as small and sleek like my other Bible. I also have this study Bible that my mom gave me awhile back. It is nice. Two different kinds of leathers and a built in commentary. I like to often read the commentary on what someone else thinks about about what im reading. This bible is alot thicker though. Not as slick and thin as the others.
Bibles are made to look sweet. They have to or else people wouldnt carry them. Some of them even look like magazines. I have one of those too. Its nice. Modern english translation, easy to read. I read the book of Acts in it and was amazed. I loved it. But take the Bible for what it is. Its not the book, but its the life it holds. Adventure, war, life and death, grace, the Messiah, its awesome. And when we forget to put oursleves in this new adventure and life that God has given us through His word we miss out. We miss out on Spirtual insight. We miss out on the blessing of His story. I dont know of a better encouragement to give to you today than to tell you that I love you and to take some time and read the Bible. Regardless of what the cover looks like or what translation it is, its your call, read what you want, do it. If you are a believer, you need it.
As a band we are great. A few small changes and some written music have brought us along to solid ground and we have been blessed. We still have some growing to do but pray for us on that. Pray for the events to come with BCM at our church that we are leading out in and for the rally down in Edgewater at the end of the month. Also I, Todd, am getting married in four days! Its been a crazy ride God has taken me on, but I am so thankful. Finally, pray the Bible into our songs and ministry. We want nothing more than to glorify our Lord with the words we sing and we want scripture to be the foundation for that. Thanks for the time. Love you all. Jesus Peace.

new music

It's been a bit since I've posted something, but this is just a little about whats going on with us as a band. Last week we wrote a song, its untitled as of now, and we put some music to it last thursday night. We are going to record as soon as we can.  We are all excited about what God is doing and is to do. We are ready and willing to be used by Him in whatever it may be. We are in the process of writing and with Gods hand guiding our hearts hopefully songs that are His might come out of us.

chords and melodies

the process of song writing itself is never easy. i think praise songs are even harder. some people are gifted...very gifted. i feel as though i have been left out of that category. as a part of the band i feel like i am running into a wall in this area. maybe it is because i am trying too hard to impress people with lyrics and melodies. i understand that a praise song cannot be a complicated mix of words that leaves the singer wondering what he just saing about. i also understand that the music in the song does not have to be complex and crazy either. i believe every part of the sound should glorify God. if i take that and use it every time i strike a chord for writing i know we will be blessed. i also believe a worship song comes from something much bigger than me, especially if God wants to use it to change people. the bible has to come into play sometime. scripture and its control in your life should be evident in writing. this has been a struggle for me. i find myself asking "what will fit here, and how can this go there". should it be easier? i love every part of one revolution.... every part. and i must stay focused on what my God has called me to do..to praise Him with everything that I have..not to seek the praise of men in what i can do.
may there be grace and mercy, Lord.

where's your fruit?

so this is my first post, ever. i've never done any sort of blogging, so forgive me if i begin to ramble.

recently, God has been trying to get ahold of me, but i havent been doing my part in letting Him. last night, God used a friend of mine to speak to me. we talked for quite some time but the point he was trying to get at was simply this; they will recognize you by your fruit (Matt. 7:16). he reminded me of a the story in Mark where Jesus saw a fig tree in the distance that looked amazing. when He got closer to it, He found that there was no fruit on it (Mark 11:12-14).

last night i realized that that was a perfect picture of my life. ive been a follower of Christ since i was seven years old. i can play the part oh so well. too well at times. so many times i find myself putting on a show, seeming to have it together in the distance, but when closely examined, i am empty. fruitless. the Bible says that the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Gal. 5:22-23). these things werent evident in my life because Christ was not put in His rightful place; the throne of my heart. when Christ is fixed at the center of your life, the fruit of the spirit will automatically being to show in your life.

i know that this was the condition of my heart, but i dont think im alone. i think it happens more times than most of us are aware of. take the time to search yourself. search the scripture. allow God to reveal Himself to you. i promise you will not be dissappointed.

Matthew 7:16 - you'll recognize them by their fruit.

the gift of giving... and thinking

to give is better than to receive. it brings me joy to know that we can give to people who need. also, i have thoughts.. like what if we all vehicles could run off off water? wouldnt that be amazing.. or what if once you cut your hair a particular way that you liked, what if it never grew back but stayed that way... crazy. what if the sky was green?
